DRUiD is proud to announce a significant milestone: we’ve successfully achieved proof of science for glucose measurement using our proprietary biosensor platform—marking the cornerstone of our original vision to develop a diagnostic tool for the early detection of Type 1 diabetes in infants.
The lab work conducted demonstrated the sensor’s ability to accurately and sensitively detect glucose in low-volume liquid samples, validating both the underlying sensor chemistry and fluid handling system.
It’s a foundational step toward building a non-invasive diagnostic solution suitable for neonatal and infant care.
This development was made possible through the support of our Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) with the University of the Highlands and Islands (UHI), the expertise and dedication of our KTP Associate, and the strategic guidance of our innovation partner, iDE8, who also directly funded this work.
We also gratefully acknowledge the backing of Innovate UK, whose support continues to drive DRUiD’s mission to build diagnostics that make earlier intervention possible—starting with one of the most urgent challenges in paediatric health.
With proof of science now achieved, we’re moving toward prototype development and early-stage clinical collaboration.
